![]() Whats the difference between fair trade and free trade apples? We are doing a group project on fair trade apples. We want to know the difference of taste etc, on free trade and fair trade. BEST ANSWER GETS 10 POINTS!!! Thanks free trade is where there are NO tariffs(or taxes)on imported or exported goods. But say, for example, china plants millions of acres of apples and subsidizes the market and then dumps them all in the U.S., therefore lowering the price of apples to almost nothing making it unprofitable for apple farmers to grow apples, and now most of the apple orchards have been torn down, driving the price of apples up.(BTW this actually happened) If we had a fair trade system it would have raised temporary tariffs on apples to prevent this from happening. Hope that helps! |
